SPRvRGV Quotes: "It was important to get a clean sheet"

Swope Park Rangers Head Coach Paulo Nagamura

On the result…

It was important to get a clean sheet after conceding nine goals in the last three games. It is definitely a positive. I think we still gave too many chances to RGV. I think we were much better defensively, but still too many chances.

On preparing for the next game...

We have 10 days before our next game. It will be important to rest. It was a tough stretch for us. We had four games in 12 days, so let’s recover and get focused. We’ll analyze what we did wrong and what we can improve and make sure we are competitive going into the next game against LA Galaxy II.

Rio Grande Valley FC Head Coach Gerson Echeverry

On the multiple chances…

I think it was important that we played well. We generated a lot of opportunities, especially in the first half. Obviously, we thought that we could have been up one or two goals in the first half, but their keeper made some saves and the post was unkind this time. For us, it’s important that we’re generating those chances that we weren’t before.

On the team's unbeaten streak and preparing for the next game…

Unfortunately, it’s one win and a lot of draws, but it’s always good especially when you come to a tough place like this. We felt like we could’ve gotten the win, but we got a draw. We’ll continue racking up points and that’s still important. For us, it’s just the preparation and hopefully getting better chances to find the back of the net. It’s a positive we got a shut out. I thought defensively we were pretty solid, especially against three very dangerous players. It was a great showing from our defenders and goalkeeper.
