Radio Rewind: Brad Evans previews #SEAvSKC and Tony Meola reflects on legacy of Ron Newman

What an incredible month of August it was.

Sporting Kansas City has cruised to four straight shutout victories, outscoring opponents 8-0 in the process, to move within a point of first-place FC Dallas in the Western Conference.

That brings us to this Saturday, when Sporting KC will travel to face an even hotter club in Seattle Sounders FC at 3 p.m. CT. In Tuesday's episode of The Sporting KC Show on Sports Radio 810 WHB, hosts Nate Bukaty and Carter Augustine recapped Sporting KC's brilliant month of August and previewed Saturday's mouthwatering matchup against a Sounders side that has won seven straight games, one shy of breaking the all-time MLS record set by Sporting KC during the first seven matches of 2012.

To help break down the battle in Seattle, Bukaty and Augustine welcomed Sporting KC defender Brad Evans to the show. Evans starred for the Sounders from 2009-2017, guiding the team to the 2016 MLS Cup and four U.S. Open Cup titles.

The new episode also paid tribute to soccer pioneer Ron Newman, Kansas City's original head coach from 1996-1999 who passed away Monday at the age of 84. Sporting Legend Tony Meola joined the show to reflect on Newman's life and legacy as a pivotal contributor to the growth of soccer in the United States.

Lastly, Sam McDowell of the Kansas City Star spoke with Soren Petro on The Program earlier Tuesday afternoon to share his thoughts and insight on Sporting KC's recent surge.
