Sporting Kansas City Homegrown midfielder Wan Kuzain Wan Kamal has been nominated for the USL Goal of the Week following his stunning free kick for the Swope Park Rangers in the 2-1 come-from-behind victory over Tulsa Roughnecks FC last Wednesday, August 29, at Children’s Mercy Park.
Kuzain stepped up to lash a swerving shot from the right side of the penalty area that deceived Tulsa goalkeeper Fabian Cerda, who initially stepped to his left before the ball knuckled and nestled into his right corner. That goal made the score 1-1 on the night before Hadji Barry eventually found a late winner. Kuzain’s free kick was named the No. 2 play on ESPN’s SportCenter Top 10 that night.
The Rangers are currently riding a three-game winning streak and a four-game unbeaten run as competition for playoff places heats up. The Rangers are back at home this weekend for the third of a six-game homestand at Children’s Mercy Park when the side takes on Fresno FC on Sunday, Sept. 9 at 4 p.m. CT.
