U.S. Men’s National Team returning to Kansas City for 2019 Concacaf Gold Cup

The U.S. Men’s National Team will return to Kansas City on June 26, 2019 when Children’s Mercy Park hosts the final two games of the 2019 Concacaf Gold Cup group stage, Concacaf announced on Tuesday.


Tickets for the doubleheader will go on sale at a later date and fans are encouraged to visit GoldCup.org to sign up to receive ticketing updates and information.


The United States, the reigning Gold Cup champions, are unbeaten in seven previous appearances in Kansas City and will return to world-class Children’s Mercy Park for the third time in Gold Cup competition (2011, 2015, 2019).

The United States, six-time winners of the Gold Cup, will compete in the confederation’s continental championship as the seeded nation in Group D. Mexico (Group A), Costa Rica (Group B) and Honduras (Group C) were also assigned groups on Tuesday, while the remaining 12 teams from North America, Central America and the Caribbean will learn their group placements after the conclusion of qualifying in March 2019.


Children’s Mercy Park, the state-of-the-art home of Sporting Kansas City, is one of 15 venues across 13 U.S. cities that will host the Concacaf Gold Cup. Matches will also take place outside of the U.S., Canada, and Mexico for the first time in the tournament’s history. These markets and venues will be announced in coming months.


First contested in 1991, next summer’s Gold Cup will be the 15th edition of the region’s premier international competition and will be played from June 15-July 7 with the final to be held at Soldier Field in Chicago.


Kansas City, a Candidate Host City for the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the United States, Mexico and Canada, has hosted many of soccer’s most prestigious matches at the club, college and international levels. Other high-profile events held at Children’s Mercy Park include the 2013 MLS Cup, 2013 MLS All-Star Game, 2014 Concacaf Women’s Championship, 2015 NCAA College Cup, Concacaf Men’s Olympic Qualifying (2012, 2015), Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup finals (2012, 2017) and 2018 Tournament of Nations.
