Sporting’s road match at LA Galaxy on Sept. 15 flexed into national TV on FS1

Major League Soccer announced today that the regular season match between Sporting Kansas City and LA Galaxy on Sunday, Sept. 15, will be televised nationally at 9 p.m. CT on FS1.

The Western Conference clash at Dignity Health Sports Park, originally slated to air locally on FOX Sports Kansas City, was moved to FS1 after MLS unveiled flex scheduling updates for Sept. 15, which marks the fourth-to-last weekend of the 2019 MLS regular season as clubs battle for places in the Audi 2019 MLS Cup Playoffs.

Sporting’s road match against LA will carry significant postseason implications as the team vies to secure a ninth consecutive appearance in the MLS Cup Playoffs. Manager Peter Vermes’ men enter the month of September five points shy of the Galaxy, who currently hold the seventh and final playoff spot in the West.

Flex broadcast scheduling during the final month of the regular season allows national broadcast partners to select the most compelling matches and pivotal moments throughout the league. MLS’ national broadcast partners will also take advantage of the flex schedule process on Sept. 22 and 29.

The 2019 regular season caps off with MLS Decision Day presented by AT&T on Sunday, Oct. 6, with 12 matches featuring all 24 MLS clubs kicking off simultaneously at 3 p.m. CT.
