In celebration of a long-standing Boxing Day tradition, the National World War I Museum, The Soccer Lot and Sporting Kansas City will host the seventh annual Truce 3v3 Soccer Tournament on Thursday, Dec. 26, with festivities beginning at 8 a.m. CT.

The Truce will treat players and fans to a wide variety of soccer-themed programming, headlined by the popular 3v3 tournament on scenic Memorial Hill with the Kansas City skyline providing an unmistakable backdrop.
Early bird pricing is offered to teams that sign up by Nov. 22 and competition is available in the Competitive, Recreational and Beer divisions, guaranteeing all teams a minimum of three games. Teams can consist of up to six players, all of whom must be at least 18 years old.
Complimentary breakfast, beer and t-shirts are included on-site for all teams that register. All participants will need to provide a valid photo ID and complete a waiver on the day of the tournament in order to play.
The Truce 3v3 Soccer Tournament Timeline
- 8am: Check-in and registration
- 9am-12pm: Group stage (3-game minimum)
- 1:15pm: Semifinals
- 2pm: Final
Attend the British pub-themed Premier League Watch Party
In conjunction with the soccer tournament, all fans are welcome to attend the Boxing Day Premier League Watch Party inside the National World War I Museum and Memorial. Admittance to the British pub-theme party is free, with an optional all-you-can-eat and all-you-can-drink beer and bloody mary bar for just $25 or a buffet-only option for $20. Kids can enjoy the buffet for $10, while children under 6 are free.
The Boxing Day holiday, celebrated on Dec. 26, is synonymous with a day full of soccer matches played across the United Kingdom. Nine English Premier League matches will unfold on Boxing Day 2019, highlighted by Chelsea vs. Southampton at 9 a.m. CT, Manchester United vs. Newcastle at 11:30 a.m. CT and Leicester City vs. Liverpool at 2 p.m. CT.
After-Party and FIFA 20 Tournament at The Soccer Lot
Fans are invited to continue celebrating at the Truce's official after-party hosted by The Soccer Lot. In addition to providing pick-up soccer on The Soccer Lot’s indoor fields, the event will feature a FIFA 20 Tournament on PlayStation 4. The FIFA 20 Tournament is $10 per contestant or $30 for the Premium Package, available to players above 21 and consisting of all-you-can-eat food and drink throughout the competition. Prizes will be awarded to the top three finishers.
About The Truce
Following a tradition that began in 2013, the 2019 Truce Tournament comes on the 105th anniversary of World War I and pays homage to the time-honored story of the Christmas Truce. On Christmas Day 1914, the brutal battles of World War I temporarily subsided as soldiers laid down their arms to celebrate the Christmas holiday. Combatants from opposing sides ventured into “no-man’s land” to exchange gifts, sing carols and play soccer.
