Sporting Kansas City II has signed Sporting KC Academy defender/winger Isaiah LeFlore to an Academy contract, the club announced today. Under the terms of the deal, LeFlore will retain his NCAA eligibility while being registered to compete in USL Championship matches for Sporting II.
LeFlore, 17, joined the Sporting KC Academy this past winter, having spent the previous three years with AD Oeiras in Portugal. The Minneapolis native joined up with Sporting’s Under-19 squad and scored his first goal in a 2-0 victory over academy powerhouse FC Dallas in late February.
Prior to his trip overseas to Portugal, LeFlore played for Minnesota-based Development Academy club Shattuck-St. Mary’s, spending time with the club’s U-14 side up until his departure to AD Oeiras in 2016.
On the international stage, LeFlore has represented the United States at the Under-15 level.
