Two-goal star Johnny Russell named to bench for MLS Team of the Week presented by Audi

Sporting Kansas City winger Johnny Russell was named to the bench for the MLS Team of the Week presented by Audi after scoring twice in Saturday's wild showdown against FC Dallas.

Russell earned the honor for his rampant performance in an unlucky 3-2 defeat, as the Scottish international scored twice to spark Sporting's furious fightback in the second half. With the hosts trailing 2-0, Russell struck in the 53rd and 83rd minutes to take his team-leading goal tally to five on the season. The in-form attacker has three goals in his last two games, having notched the game-winner in a 1-0 result versus Minnesota United FC on Sept. 13.

Russell's double also saw the Scottish international join an elite group of eight players in club history to contribute 25 goals and 25 assists across all competitions.
