Sporting KC passes on pick in End-of-Year Waivers process

Sporting Kansas City passed on its pick in the 2020 End-of-Year Waivers process on Wednesday.


Major League Soccer's offseason will continue Thursday with Stage 1 of the Re-Entry Process, slated for 12 p.m. CT. Similar to the End-of-Year Waivers process, teams will select in the reverse order of their finish during the 2020 season, taking into account playoff performance and keeping in mind any trades impacting selection order. FC Cincinnati will hold the first selection, Sporting Kansas City will have the 22nd pick, MLS Cup champion Columbus Crew SC will get the 26th pick, and expansion club Austin FC will have the 27th.


Players who are eligible to be selected in the Re-Entry Process include players who are at least 22 years old and have a minimum of one year of MLS service, who are out of contract and did not receive a Bona Fide Offer or whose contract options were not exercised by their clubs.


The final postseason roster mechanism will be Stage 2 of the Re-Entry Process, which will be conducted on Tuesday, Dec. 22. The list of players eligible for Re-Entry, Stage 2 will be announced on Dec. 22 at 10 a.m. CT.
