Team with Cauldron postgame - Sporting KC vs. Colorado Rapids - Oct. 24, 2020

In conjunction with the 2021 MLS regular season schedule release this week, Sporting Kansas City is excited to announce several fan-friendly theme nights over the course of the season at Children’s Mercy Park.

Before we dive into details, take note that Sporting Kansas City Season Ticket Members will have access to an exclusive pre-sale from March 26-30 for tickets to the club’s first four regular season home matches. Tickets to Sporting’s first four home matches will then go on sale to the general public via SeatGeek.com on Wednesday, March 31.

Sporting Kansas City has also announced that Children’s Mercy Park will begin the season with a reduced capacity of approximately 6,500 fans. The club will continue to implement comprehensive health and safety protocols at all home matches, including a limited-capacity seating plan and mandatory face coverings for supporters.

With that in mind, here’s what supporters can look forward to in the months to come. Further details about every theme night will be announced closer to each date.

May 16 vs. Vancouver: Soccer For All

Sporting Kansas City and The Victory Project have pledged to make the sport of soccer more accessible to children with limited financial resources. That includes working with partners, non-profits, schools and fans to bring soccer programs to kids who have not had these opportunities before. This Sunday afternoon match will bring the all-important Soccer For All initiative to the forefront.

May 29 vs. Houston: Sporting Sustainability

As communities continue to build for a brighter future, environmental sustainability has become more important than ever. Recycling, reducing food waste and harnessing solar power are all ways that supporters can make a difference. The annual Sporting Sustainability night represents an effort to create a more sustainable environment. To learn more, visit SportingKC.com/sustainability.

June 23 vs. Colorado: Sporting Legends

The Sporting Legends hall of honor, established in 2013, pays tribute to club icons and provides a platform for inductees to reconnect with the Kansas City soccer community on an annual basis. Ten individuals have been named Sporting Legends for their invaluable contributions to the Sporting Kansas City organization and to the growth of soccer throughout the region. On June 23, Sporting will induct an 11th club great into the esteemed hall of honor. Fan voting for the next Sporting Legend will begin this spring.

July 31 vs. FC Dallas: Sporting Salutes

Sporting Kansas City will honor the service and sacrifice of military service members and their families when the club hosts the fourth annual Sporting Salutes at Children’s Mercy Park. The initiative is normally held in partnership with military units from Kansas and Missouri and includes on-field recognition of servicemen and women, plus a variety of Sporting Salutes-themed, limited-edition merchandise for fans.

Aug. 28 vs. Colorado: Retro Night

Alas, one of the most anticipated nights of the season. In late August, Sporting will host its annual Retro Night by rolling out a wide range of vintage Kansas City merchandise and providing a comprehensive throwback experience at Children’s Mercy Park.

Sept. 26 vs. Seattle: Kick Childhood Cancer

During Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, Sporting Kansas City will make a team-wide effort to Kick Childhood Cancer. The Victory Project will once again take center stage by honoring kids who are battling cancer and providing opportunities for supporters to join the special experience. Fans will once again be able to select from tons of awesome merchandise, with proceeds going toward the fight against cancer.

Oct. 27 vs. LA Galaxy: Fan Appreciation

In the penultimate home match of the regular season, Sporting Kansas City will give special thanks to the very lifeblood of the club—the supporters themselves. No group of people is more responsible for making the Children’s Mercy Park experience so special quite like the fans, who will experience a slew of unique perks when the Galaxy visit Kansas City.
