Sporting Kansas City announced on Monday a new six-year partnership agreement with Central Bank of the Midwest as the official checking account partner of the two-time MLS Cup champions.

Through the partnership, Central Bank of the Midwest will offer customers Sporting Kansas City checking accounts which feature the exclusive Sporting Debit Card. In addition, Central Bank of the Midwest will be prominently featured as the official jersey sponsor of Sporting Missouri Valley, a Sporting KC Academy Affiliate providing youth soccer opportunities for boys and girls from elementary age through high school.

“Central Bank of the Midwest is excited to be the Proud Community Banking Partner of Sporting KC,” said Central Bank of the Midwest President and CEO Bill Ferguson. “Our organizations are built with a strong focus on community. That community-minded outlook, and the spirit that goes with it, make us a perfect fit for each other and for fans who can now show their team spirit with the exclusive Sporting Debit Card.

“With the excitement building for the start of the MLS season, you can feel the pride our city has for this team. I have enjoyed being a Season Ticket Member with Sporting KC and know first-hand the energy and comradery that surround the team and its fan base.

Much like the sport of soccer in Kansas City, Central Bank of the Midwest has grown. Now serving 28 communities, it is our goal to provide a legendary experience to our customers by holding true to the community roots that gave us our beginning. We are so proud to partner with an organization that holds those same values.”

“Central Bank of the Midwest is a leader in financial services in our market and we’re thrilled to establish this new partnership together,” said Sporting Kansas City President and CEO Jake Reid. “Beyond providing exceptional customer service, their branches and their employees support numerous important causes right here in our region, including veterans, low-income families, student scholarships and non-profit organizations. As Sporting launches our Force for Good campaign to meet crucial needs in the local area, teaming up with organizations that share in this commitment to our community is especially timely and impactful.”

Central Bank of the Midwest, which serves 28 local communities with 51 branches in Kansas and Missouri, is part of the Central Bank family of banks that includes more than 150 sister locations. Central Bank’s legacy dates back to 1902 and Central Bancompany, headquartered in Jefferson City, Missouri, now manages $18 billion in assets and was recently ranked the fourth best bank in America by Forbes Magazine.

Sporting KC will kick off the upcoming season on Saturday, April 17 at the New York Red Bulls before the club’s highly anticipated home opener arrives on Friday, April 23 with a nationally televised match-up against Orlando City SC at Children’s Mercy Park.

Led by Manager Peter Vermes, Sporting’s 2021 roster features the MLS All-Star trio of Roger Espinoza, Ilie Sanchez and Graham Zusi alongside Mexican National Team striker Alan Pulido, club captain Johnny Russell and former MLS Goalkeeper of the Year Tim Melia. Sporting finished in first place in the Western Conference in 2020 and will compete in the 2021 edition of Leagues Cup, a single-elimination international competition this summer featuring eight of the top professional teams in North America.
