SKCN2682

Sporting Kansas City II's 2024 Preseason presented by Central Bank began this week with five days of training at Swope Soccer Village and a Saturday afternoon friendly against Union Omaha. Sporting KC II welcomed the USL League One side for the preseason exhibition with a starting XI featuring three Sporting KC Academy players, several trialists as well as Nati Clarke and Haris Alisah.

The match began slowly with both sides growing into the contest. SKC II possessed the ball in and around the Omaha final third before Johann Ortiz, one of the SKC Academy midfielders, was ripped down from behind. The ensuing free kick was dealt with before the visitors jumped out to an early lead with a corner kick conversion in the 12th.

Keaton Wiley entered for Ortiz in the 16th and Omaha doubled their lead with a one-v-one goal in the 21st. A little under 10 minutes later, four changes were made to the Sporting KC II lineup with Isaac Johnson, Maouloume Goumballe, Cielo Tschantret and Levi Welsh entering for Alisah, Clarke, Carson Buschman-Dormon and Ryan Reid. The final 15 ticks of the first half saw neither side carve out any chances.

Coming out of the break, SKC II made no swaps. The guests added a third off a headed finish on a near post ball whipped in on a free kick. They netted a fourth in the 60th moments before five of SKC II's MLS NEXT Pro contracted players entered the pitch. Kortne Ford, Pau Vidal, Ethan Bryant and Roberto Hategan played out the final 30 while Jacob Swallen went a preplanned 15 minutes. Sporting KC Academy players Mason Dancy, Jacob Molinaro and Shane Donovan all entered the match as well.

Omaha took the air out of the ball in the final half-hour, defending their four-goal lead. The friendly came to a close with Union Omaha securing the 4-0 win. SKC II will return to the training grounds at Swope Soccer Village this week with another friendly on the docket on Saturday. Feilhaber and the group will host the Kansas City Roos Men's Soccer Team on Saturday, February 24th at 2 p.m. CT. Fans can follow @SportingKCII on X for live updates throughout the match.
