SKC II to host MLS NEXT Pro Playoff Match at Rock Chalk Park on Friday


Sporting Kansas City II will return to Rock Chalk Park in Lawrence, KS on Friday, Sept. 29 for the opening round of the 2023 MLS NEXT Pro Playoffs. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m. CT and tickets are on sale now at for just $10. Children under 12 will still receive free admission.

After securing the third seed in the Western Conference with a shootout victory over St. Louis CITY2, Sporting KC II will select their Conference Quarterfinals opponent. The two sides will face off in a win-or-go-home, single-elimination match for the right to advance to the Conference Semifinals. SKC II’s opponent for Friday night will be announced soon.

In their second season at Rock Chalk Park, SKC II turned the first-class soccer facility into a fortress, boasting a record of 7-2-3, with three shootout wins. In the tail end of the season, Sporting KC II earned seven straight results including five straight wins. The team’s electrifying offense took center stage in Lawrence, tallying 29 goals while the durable defense conceded just 14.

The thrilling and inventive pick-your-opponent selection style of the MLS NEXT Pro Playoffs is a new challenge for head coach Benny Feilhaber and his entire team. SKC II will be ready for whomever comes to Rock Chalk Park as they own a 2-1-2 record over playoff teams at their home turf. The shootout win over St. Louis on Sunday at Children’s Mercy Victory Field improved SKC II’s record to 2-1-3 against fellow Western Conference Playoff opponents.
