PSB00054-2

Sporting Kansas City II head coach Benny Feilhaber has been voted MLS NEXT Pro Coach of the Month for the month of July. This marks back-to-back months in which Feilhaber has claimed the honor after the Sporting KC II boss took home the title after an undefeated June.

The MLSNEXTPro.com editorial team, several league personnel, announcers and clubs voted on the top performers across the league during the month of July to declare Feilhaber the Coach of the Month.

"I’m excited about the direction the team and individual players are heading in," said Feilhaber. "We have a good group that is really coming together and fully understanding the way we want to play at this club. Hopefully, we can continue improving and finish the season off strong."

Feilhaber and SKC II posted a 4-1-0 record in July, scoring 16 goals and conceding just six. The month started off with a 7-1 demolition of Whitecaps FC 2 and was capped off with a 4-0 triumph over first-place Colorado Rapids 2. The team earned the title of MLS NEXT Pro Team of the Matchday for both of those performances as well.

With a talented roster of first-team loanees, second-team contracted players and Sporting KC Academy players, Feilhaber has the entire roster playing inspired soccer. In the midst of a three-match win streak, Sebastian Cruz has scored in three consecutive contests. Alenis Vargas has added two goals in July, leads the team in assists (five) and was nominated for Goal of Matchday 19.

Led by Feilhaber and assistant coach Ike Opara, SKC II currently sits in fourth place in the Western Conference, six points above the playoff line. They will kick off a stretch of three matches in nine days when they travel to Texas for a matchup with Houston Dynamo 2. The match will kick off at 6 p.m. CT on MLS Season Pass on Apple TV from SaberCats Stadium.
