With the Major League Soccer season paused until July 16 -- when Sporting Kansas City visits rivals St. Louis CITY SC -- FIFA World Cup 26 continues this week with Kansas City's first two matches.
FIFA World Cup 26 will feature six matches  at Kansas City Stadium, starting this Tuesday (Argentina-Algeria) and this Saturday (Ecuador-Curacao) in addition to games on June 25 (Tunisia-Netherlands), June 27 (Algeria-Austria), July 3 (Round of 32) and July 11 (Quarterfinal). Four countries (Algeria, Argentina, England and Netherlands) have also selected the region for their  team base camp  and both soccer-specific stadiums in KC will be utilized as venue-specific training sites for national teams in the tournament.
Sporting Kansas City co-owner Cliff Illig is co-chair of the KC2026 Board of Directors , while Sporting Kansas City President and CEO Jake Reid serves as Vice President. Sporting Kansas City was announced by KC2026 as an official  Host City Supporter and the club will activate at  FIFA Fan Festival  at the National WWI Museum and Memorial in addition to hosting  Soccer Capital Summer at Sporting Park.
SKC X AFA MEET AND GREET AT NO OTHER PUB TODAY
Sporting Kansas City is teaming up with the Argentine Football Association to host a meet and greet with Argentina legend Sergio Goycochea and Sporting KC forward Dejan Joveljic from 1-3 p.m. CT today at No Other Pub in the Kansas City Power and Light District. The free event is open to fans of all ages and parking is available in nearby garages and surface lots, including the KC Live! garage on 13th Street between Grand and Walnut.
FAN EVENT AT CENTRAL BANK SPORTING COMPLEX ON TUESDAY
Go North KC, a joint initiative between Clay and Platte Counties, is hosting a watch party on Tuesday at Central Bank Sporting Complex (9101 N. Line Creek Pkwy, Kansas City, MO) as Argentina takes on Algeria at Kansas City Stadium. Gates will open for the watch party at 5:30 p.m. and the match will kick off at 8 p.m. CT. The event will feature soccer activities for kids as well as custom murals, interactive games, photo opportunities and live entertainment from DJ Kirby.
RUSSELL STOVER MEET AND GREET WITH BESLER ON TUESDAY
Russell Stover will host a meet and greet with Sporting Legend Matt Besler from 2-3:30 p.m. on Tuesday at Experience KC in the Grand Hall at Union Station (30 W. Pershing Rd., Kansas City, MO), The first 25 youth soccer players between the ages of 7-12 years old in attendance at the meet and greet will be invited to register for a Sporting KC Youth Soccer clinic with Besler on August 22 at Central Bank Sporting Complex.
SOCCER CAPITAL SUMMER AT SPORTING PARK THIS WEEK
Soccer Capital Summer will begin at Sporting Park (1 Sporting Way, Kansas City, KS) this week as the series of fan engagement events and experiences kicks off with watch parties, live entertainment and immersive programming. Soccer Capital Summer will be open from 11 a.m. to midnight on Wednesday and 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Thursday as both days feature four highly anticipated World Cup matches. Sporting KC will offer a free youth soccer clinic from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Sunday at the FIFA Fan Festival at the National World War I Museum and Memorial. Fans can reserve free general admission passes -- or purchase passes for the premium garden and legacy lounge -- to access the festival, which will feature live match screenings, entertainment, a FIFA store, host city supporter campus activations and more.
