They're back! Major League Soccer is now accepting nominations for the 2016 #MLSSoshies. There are five awards up for grabs: Most Social Player, BFFs, The Bigger Picture, Family Matters and MLS Pets.
Sporting KC's Dom Dwyer took home two of the inaugural awards in 2015 after being voted the Most Social Player in MLS and his wedding group photo taking first place in the BFFs category.
Will Dom Dwyer take home the social media crown once again or will another Sporting KC player stake his claim to the throne? Below are the descriptions for each category with a few of our favorite photos from the year.
1) Most Social Player- Whether they’re on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, Vine, MySpace or all of the above, they’re just killin’ it. They’re experts with apps, filters, RTs, and are always up for sharing socially.
Sorry rest of MLS. You're gonna have a hard time taking this crown away from Dom Dwyer.
2) BFFs- Some players take their soccer friendships to buddy-movie levels. This category's for your favorite sets of MLS pals.
Whether it's at The K or a Chipotle, if you see Roger Espinoza around town, there's a good chance Jimmy Medranda is with him.
3) The Bigger Picture - There’s a whole wide world outside of soccer (we know, gasp!) and these players are capturing life beyond the pitch in the most unique ways.
Graham Zusi doesn't post often on Instagram, but when he does, he has a knack for capturing the beauty of his surroundings.
4) Family Matters- Whether it's their wife, partner, kids, or otherwise, these players know that family is important, and they capture those quirky, cute, and downright lovable special moments with expertise.
2016 was a busy year for Sporting babies including Matt Besler, who welcomed baby Parker to the world hours before he scored his first international goal.
5) MLS Pets - Whether they're cuddling their cats or documenting their doggos, these players know the true path to social media greatness: cute animals.
