U-16 Head Coach
ANGEL RIVILLO comes to the Sporting KC Academy with over 20 years of involvement in the game of soccer as both a professional player and coach. Rivillo graduated from Creighton University with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Sciences in 2001 and was awarded "All-American Scholar Athlete" in 1999. Rivillo was drafted in the 2000 MLS Super Draft and played for the Dallas Burn (now FC Dallas) in Major League Soccer from 2000-2001. He continued to play professionally in Venezuela, France and the U.S. for 14 years.
As a youth player, Rivillo was a member of the U-15, U-17 and U-23 Venezuela National Team. As a senior player, Rivillo won an A-League Championship and was awarded "Goal of the Year" with the Milwaukee Rampage in 2002 and won an MISL Championship with the Milwaukee Wave in 2004. Rivillo also represented the US Men's Futsal National Team at FIFA World Cup Qualifiers in Guatemala in 2011 and the Four Nations Cup in Newcastle, England in 2012.
His coaching career kicked off in 2002 and has taken him to 15 different clubs and organizations at various levels, including community grassroots organizations Star Finder Foundation (PA), Soccer in the Streets (GA), and Wave of Kindness (WI), collegiate assistant coach at St. Joseph's University (NCAA D1), Head Coach at FC Delco ENCL, and Head Coach at Shattuck-St. Mary's USSF DA. In the MLS Academy, Rivillo worked with Minnesota United from 2017-2020 and Austin FC from 2020-2023. At Austin FC, Angel served as a Head coach for the U-15 team and the Scouting and Recruiting Coordinator. Rivillo helped start the academy from the ground up, developed their residency program, and helped guide the U-15 team to a 2022 GA Cup title.
Rivillo holds a USSF A -License as well as his USSF Academy Directors License. He resides in KCMO with his wife Lourdes and two kids, Amelie and Santiago.
