Academy Goalkeeper Coach
ACADEMY GOALKEEPER COACH Carlos Ortiz is responsible for coaching all of the Sporting KC Academy goalkeepers from the U-13 to U-19 levels. Ortiz joined the Sporting Kansas City Academy in January 2024 in the midst of the 2023-24 MLS NEXT Season.
A graduate of Graceland University, Ortiz holds a bachelor's degree in physical education and health, as well as a master's degree in sport psychology from the University of Thessaly in Greece. His playing experience includes stops at Real Salt Lake, Costa Rican side Club Brijas, Club Deportivo Barrio in Mexico, and Clarence United in Tasmania.
As a coach, Ortiz has worked as an assistant at his alma mater, Graceland University, and Seton Hall University. At the professional level, he served as an assistant coach at Rio Grande Valley FC Toros. Most recently, he served as the Goalkeeping Academy Director at Austin FC, where he also worked with Austin FC II.
