A long time ago (well, in 2011), something exciting was happening in Kansas City. A brand-new soccer stadium was opening, and Sporting Kansas City was getting ready to welcome thousands of fans to our new home!
But something was missing. The team had players. We had coaches. We had fans cheering in the stands. But we didn’t have someone to bring the fun, someone to make every game feel special. Then, on the very first game day at Sporting Park, something magical happened.
A bright, blue dog appeared near the gates, his tail wagging and his ears perked up. He wasn’t just any dog—he had the biggest smile, the silliest dance moves, and the fastest paws anyone had ever seen! He raced through the stadium, high-fiving fans, posing for pictures, and even helping to lead the cheers. The crowd loved him. The team loved him. And right then and there, Sporting Kansas City knew—we had found our missing piece!
“This dog belongs with us,” said the club. And just like that, Blue was adopted into the Sporting KC family—right where he was always meant to be. We gave him a jersey, just like the players, with the number 11—because just like Sporting Park, Blue’s Sporting KC journey began in 2011. From that day on, he became Sporting KC's biggest cheerleader and the heart of the team, finding his forever home.
Now, Blue is at every game, spreading smiles and high-fives. He visits schools, helps in the community, and reminds everyone that being part of Sporting KC means being part of a big, happy family. And the best part? He’s always ready for a new adventure! Because Blue isn’t just a dog. He’s Sporting KC’s best friend.
