Team of the Week

Daniel Salloi named to MLS Team of the Week presented by Audi

Sporting Kansas City forward Daniel Salloi was formally recognized today for his stupendous, two-goal performance in Sportingā€™s 2-1 victory over the Colorado Rapids on Wednesday night, receiving his second call up to the MLS Team of the Week presented by Audi.

Salloi bagged his fourth career regular season brace, and second against the Rapids, by scoring on either side of halftime. His three total shots and two shots on goal paced the team with both attempts on frame beating William Yarbrough. He led all Sporting KC forwards with 45 touches and 13 passes in the final third.

In the 24th minute of Wednesdayā€™s showdown, Salloi fired Sporting KC out in front with a brilliant run into the box off a quick restart at midfield. The Hungarian international sliced and diced two defenders before torching Yarbrough on the near post.

After the Rapids drew even, Salloi regained the lead for the hosts in the 50th by taking control of a Kortne Ford pass and deftly placing it into the far netting with precision. The Sporting KC Academy product now has 12 game-winning goals, tied for the third-most in club history with 2015 Sporting Legends inductee Chris Klein.

After signing with Sporting as a homegrown in 2016, Salloi made his debut in 2017 and has 35 goals and 19 assists in 92 starts. He made an appearance on the MLS Team of the Week Bench earlier this season and was recognized eight times last season.
