FOX Sports Kansas City to feature player commentary during broadcast of Sporting KC’s 2017 Open Cup Final victory on Saturday

Sporting Kansas City’s thrilling 2-1 win over the New York Red Bulls in the 2017 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Final will re-air Saturday at 7 and 9 p.m. CT on FOX Sports Kansas City, featuring a unique commentary experience with midfielder Roger Espinoza and forward Daniel Salloi joining club commentator Nate Bukaty.

As the momentous matchup unfolds, Espinoza and Salloi—both of whom played instrumental roles in the championship victory—will provide in-depth insight and reflect on key moments as Sporting emerged victorious at electric Children’s Mercy Park on Sept. 20, 2017.

Saturday’s re-airing can also be streamed on the FOX Sports GO app and at FOXSportsGO.com by customers of pay-TV providers who receive FOX Sports Kansas City. For a full list of FOX Sports Kansas City channel numbers, click here.

The nail-biting 2017 final of North America’s oldest soccer tournament saw Sporting take a 1-0 halftime lead through Latif Blessing before Salloi scored the ultimate game-winner in the 66th minute. The Red Bulls grabbed a goal back in second-half stoppage time, but Manager Peter Vermes’ men held on for their third Open Cup title since 2012 and their fourth major championship in a six-year spell.

Espinoza played all 90 minutes in the winning effort, helping contain an explosive Red Bulls attack, while Salloi entered as a substitute for the injured Blessing late in the first half. The victory gave Espinoza his third career Open Cup title and Salloi his first major championship as a professional.
