Initial Allotment of Gold Cup Tickets Sold

The 2011 CONCACAF Gold Cup is coming to KC Soccer Stadium.

Sporting Kansas City announced Thursday that the initial allotment of tickets for the 2011 CONCACAF Gold Cup doubleheader at LIVESTRONG Sporting Park on June 14th has sold out. Tickets went on sale to the general public at 10:00 a.m. CT on Wednesday and by Thursday the team had sold 4,000 tickets to see the final matches of the opening round between Panama and Canada, followed by the United States and Guadeloupe.

"The fact that our initial allotment of 4,000 Gold Cup tickets sold out in only 24 hours is an indication of how many passionate soccer supporters reside in Kansas City and throughout the Midwest," Sporting Kansas City Executive Vice President of Revenue Andrew Steinberg said. "June 14th will be a special day, and we are thrilled that LIVESTRONG Sporting Park was selected to host the United States Men's National Team in their first visit to Kansas City in over a decade."

Tickets to both games are included as part of 2011 Sporting Kansas City season ticket packages, which can be purchased at www.SportingKC.com/VirtualVenue or by calling 888-4KC-GOAL. If available, the general public will then have the ability to purchase any remaining tickets once released in May.

Kansas City was one of 11 U.S. cities chosen to host games during the 2011 CONCACAF Gold Cupâ„¢ and LIVESTRONG Sporting Park is one of four Major League Soccer stadiums selected for games during the region’s highest level of competition. The brand new, $200 million state-of-the-art stadium will host its first international matches just five days after its grand opening on June 9th,  when Sporting Kansas City hosts the Chicago Fire in the team’s highly anticipated home opener.
