Saturday's showdown will feature the top-scoring player in the Western Conference as MLS All-Star Petar Musa has tallied 22 goals in 28 appearances this year in addition to scoring in Leagues Cup and the World Cup this summer. The Croatian forward enters the penultimate matchday second in the MLS Golden Boot race, three back of Lionel Messi.

Musa has historically found success against Sporting with six goals -- his most against any opponent -- in six career match-ups with SKC, including a brace in FC Dallas' 4-3 victory last month. The Designated Player converted a penalty kick in the 97th minute for the game-winning goal to spoil a road result for Sporting on a night in which Taylor Calheira had struck for his first two MLS goals.

Calheira was back on the scoresheet on Wednesday and now has five goals, second most among active SKC players. The 24-year-old scored 21 goals for FC Tulsa (USL Championship) in 2025 and 17 goals with NYCFC II (MLS NEXT Pro) in 2024.

Sporting Kansas City enters Saturday looking to snap a six-game winless run (0-5-1) and four-game losing streak after suffering a 3-1 defeat in Minnesota mid-week. Sporting has conceded the most goals ever by an MLS team (80) this season and is at risk of finishing last in the league for the first time in the club's 31-year history.

Sporting's struggles have resulted in only three home wins this year -- an all-time low for the team -- as SKC is yet to record a shutout at Sporting Park in 2026. Failure to do so on Saturday would see SKC join this year's Toronto FC side as the only teams in MLS history to finish a season without a clean sheet at home.

Conversely, FC Dallas arrives in Kansas City sitting in second place in the Western Conference -- four points back of the Vancouver Whitecaps with two games to go -- and will need a win on Saturday to remain in contention for the top seed in the playoffs. The visitors are led by head coach Eric Quill, who made 57 appearances for the Kansas City Wizards from 2002-2003, and are coming off a 2-0 loss to Columbus on Wednesday in which defenders Nolan Norris and Shaq Moore both received yellow cards that will result in caution accumulation suspensions to be served on Saturday.

SKCvDAL will be available to watch in English (Neil Sika and Kyndra de St. Aubin) and Spanish (Sergio Ruiz and Walter Roque) on Apple TV in addition to local radio coverage on Sports Radio 810 WHB (Blake Aerni and Jon Kempin) and La Grande 1340 AM (Josue Orantes and Diego Gutierrez) with audio streams in the SKC mobile app. All of the action will also be shown in pub partners across the Sporting Pub Network.
