Kansas City Current schedule release: Current will play 11 NWSL regular season matches at Children's Mercy Park

The Kansas City Current announced today, their full 2022 NWSL regular season schedule with 11 matches set to be played at Children’s Mercy Park throughout their 22 match season. The Current begin their season on Sat, April 30 in Portland against Portland Thorns FC at Providence Park before their home opener against the Houston Dash at Children’s Mercy Park on Sun, May 8 at 4 p.m. CT.

Following the home opener, the Current will hit the road for three straight matches between May 14 and May 25. They will then return to Children’s Mercy Park for four consecutive home matches against Racing Louisville FC, San Diego Wave FC, NJ/NY Gotham FC and the Chicago Red Stars.

After another two road contests, two more home matches against OL Reign and Orlando Pride will be played at Children's Mercy Park in July. August also presents two matches at Children’s Mercy Park the first of which against Angel City FC and the second against the North Carolina Courage.

The Current finishes up the 2022 home campaign with matches against the Portland Thorns on Sept. 18 and the Washington Spirit on Sept. 25 before a Decision Day battle with Racing Lousiville on Oct. 1 in Louisville.

Six teams will qualify for the NWSL playoffs, with the top two seeds receiving a first-round bye. The NWSL Championship is set for Oct. 29.

The Current will also be playing in the 2022 Challenge Cup before the regular season kicks off. The team's first three matches of the competition will take place on the road with the first home match set for Sat, April 2 against Louisville.
