Sporting Kansas City defender Kayden Pierre was announced today as the club’s newest ambassador for the Blue KC Sporting Samaritan program.

Pierre, 20, joins former Sporting KC and U.S. Men’s National Team defender Matt Besler as an ambassador for the initiative, which began in 2016 to highlight local students and teachers who make Kansas City a better place to live, work and play.

A U.S. youth international, Pierre joined the Sporting KC Academy in 2018 and signed with Sporting KC as a Homegrown Player in 2021. The right back enjoyed a breakout season in 2022 with 22 appearances for the club across all competitions.

Each season, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas City and Sporting Kansas City partner to recognize Blue KC Sporting Samaritans nominated for enriching the lives of others by making an impact in the community with their dedication and selflessness.

Blue KC Sporting Samaritans are honored at Children’s Mercy Park during pre-match festivities at Sporting KC home matches as part of a VIP experience that includes a customized jersey, four tickets to the match and a parking pass. In addition, the individual who nominated the Blue KC Sporting Samaritan receives two match tickets and a parking pass, along with a $20 Sporting Pay complimentary balance to purchase retail items at SportingStyle or food and beverage at the stadium’s concession stands.

The first Blue KC Sporting Samaritan of 2023 will be celebrated prior to Sporting Kansas City’s next home match at 7:30 p.m. CT on Saturday at Children’s Mercy Park. Tickets for the Western Conference clash with the Seattle Sounders are available online via match sponsor SeatGeek and the match will stream live on Apple TV for MLS Season Pass subscribers.
