U.S. Soccer legend Landon Donovan announced today that he will re-join the LA Galaxy for the remainder of the 2016 season. The all-time leader in MLS goals and assists retired in 2014 after leading the LA Galaxy to their fifth MLS Cup championship.

Sporting Kansas City will host Donovan and the Galaxy on Sunday, Sept. 18 at Children's Mercy Park in a match that will be nationally televised on FOX. Limited tickets are available for the match and can be purchased at Ticketmaster.com or by calling 888-4KC-GOAL.

In his 14-year MLS career with the San Jose Earthquakes and Galaxy, Donovan amassed 144 goals and 136 assists. He won six MLS Cups, two Supporters’ Shield and a Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup.

Donovan’s success was not only for club as he finished his international career as the all-time leading goalscorer for the U.S. Men’s National Team and with the second most appearances. The California native won four CONCACAF Gold Cups, led the U.S. MNT to a second place finish at the 2009 FIFA Confederations Cup and represented his country at the 2002, 2006 and 2010 FIFA World Cup.

Sporting KC are currently in fifth place in the Western Conference, six points behind the LA Galaxy who are tied for second place with Real Salt Lake. The Galaxy are next in action Sunday night against Orlando City SC at 6pm CT on FS1.
