MLS, Sporting and other clubs speak out against racism and social injustice

Major League Soccer on Monday released a statement in the wake of nationwide protests following the May 25 death of George Floyd while in custody of Minnesota police.


A white officer has been charged with the murder of Floyd, a 46-year-old black man, after kneeling on Floyd's neck for almost nine minutes, despite pleas that he couldn't breathe.

The entire Major League Soccer family is deeply saddened and horrified by the senseless murder of George Floyd.

We stand united with the black community throughout our country and share in the pain, anger and frustration.
