New edition of Behind the Shield presented by Audi provides all-access look at comeback win over Seattle

New in 2024, Behind the Shield presented by Audi will be available after every match this season with the video series - produced by Sporting Kansas City's full-time digital storytellers - providing fans with an immersive viewing experience highlighted by exclusive interviews and all-access footage from Sporting Kansas City players, trainings and matchdays.

This week's BTS captures the sights and sounds from the club's 2-1 come-from-behind victory over the Seattle Sounders at Children's Mercy Park with 20-year-old Alenis Vargas coming off the bench to score the game-winning goal in the 85th minute.

Fans can also hear from Sporting KC midfielder Erik Thommy and defender Logan Ndenbe, as well as Director of Rehabilitation Chris Wolbert, during the 13-minute episode, which can be seen on SportingKC.com, Sporting Kansas City's YouTube channel and MLS Season Pass on Apple TV.

"They believe in me. They know I work hard. They know I'm going to be back stronger. They're behind me always," said Ndenbe, who suffered a torn ACL in his right knee last November during Sporting's 2-1 win over St. Louis in the 2023 MLS Cup Playoffs. "It's good to feel that someone is behind you and trying to make you come back stronger."

"He's way ahead of schedule," Manager Peter Vermes told media today. "I would say in the next couple of weeks, he'll probably be in full training. We're trying to do a little bit of a preseason with him because obviously he didn't have one and he needs that. We want to make sure he has a good foundation coming back...I'm hoping somewhere toward the end of July or for sure in August, he's going to start being in games."

Sporting Kansas City will return to the road to face the LA Galaxy at 9:30 p.m. CT this Saturday at Dignity Health Sports Park in southern California.

The Western Conference clash will be available to watch on Apple TV for MLS Season Pass subscribers and radio coverage will air locally on Sports Radio 810 WHB in English and La Grande 1340 AM in Spanish with live audio streams available in the Sporting KC App. In addition, Pub partners in the Sporting Pub Network will also show all of the action including a watch party at No Other Pub in the Kansas City Power and Light District with food and drink specials for fans.
