Sporting Kansas City defender Jake Davis, midfielder Remi Walter and Manager Peter Vermes were all recognized on the MLS Team of the Matchday presented by Audi on Monday for Matchday 7 of the Major League Soccer regular season.

Davis, a 22-year-old Sporting KC Academy product, scored the game-winning goal -- on a stunning shot from 30 yards out for the first goal of his MLS career -- and added his team-leading third assist of the season in Sporting's 3-1 road win at Toronto FC on Saturday.

Walter opened the scoring seven minutes earlier with an impressive strike of his own from outside the penalty area. The 28-year-old Frenchman, who celebrated his 100th regular season match for the club on Saturday, now has nine goals in all competitions since joining the club in 2021 and leads the team with a pair of goals so far this season.

Sporting improved to 5-0-4 at BMO Field under Vermes while extending the team's regular season unbeaten run against Toronto FC to 11 matches (7-0-4). SKC did so with a superb second-half performance that featured three goals against an opponent that had only conceded twice in five matches to start the season.

"To get three goals on the road to a team that's been playing as well as they have, they were big points," Vermes said postgame. "The guys got the job done and if you look at the strikes from distance, they were tremendous."

Up next, Sporting Kansas City will kick off a three-match homestand this Sunday when the club takes on a Portland Timbers side led by Brazilian midfielder Evander and Uruguayan forward Jonathan Rodriguez. The Western Conference clash will kick off at 12:55 p.m. CT and tickets are available online at SeatGeek, including the Coca-Cola Friends & Family 4-Pack and the Wild West 5-Pack.

The MLS Matchday 8 finale will be free to watch on MLS Season Pass via Apple TV in addition to national television broadcasts on FOX and FOX Deportes as well as local radio coverage on Sports Radio 810 WHB and La Grande 1340 AM. Pub partners in the Sporting Pub Network will also show all of the action, including a watch party at No Other Pub in the Kansas City Power and Light District.
