The United States Men's National Team plays their penultimate match of 2014 FIFA World Cup Qualifying on tonight at Sporting Park versus Jamaica. The match kicks off at 5:30 p.m. CT and will be televised live on ESPN, WatchESPN and UniMas.
Heading into the match, the U.S. MNT sits atop the final round of the hexagonal group with a 5-2-1 record including a perfect 4-0-0 record in home matches. Jamaica sit in last place in the standings with four draws and three goals through eight matches. The two teams met on June 7 in Kingston, Jamaica with the U.S. MNT earning a 2-1 victory on a stoppage time goal by Brad Evans.
Both rosters include several players from Major League Soccer including Sporting Kansas City's Matt Besler and Graham Zusi. Besler has started five matches in the hexagonal round including the U.S. MNT's victory in Kingston. Zusi has also started five matches and notched one assist during the hexagonal round.
The U.S. MNT has already clinched a spot in next summer's World Cup and can finish first in the hexagonal for the third consecutive cycle with a victory and a Costa Rica loss at Honduras. Jamaica qualification hopes will remain alive if they win the match and Mexico-Panama ends in draw.
Prior to the match, Sporting KC Manager Peter Vermes will be formally inducted into the National Soccer Hall of Fame at 2:30 p.m. CT in the Sprint Plaza. Also in the Sprint Plaza will be the official Watch Party featuring gameday festivities leading up to kickoff. Both events are free and open to the public. Following the match, a "Road to Brazil" postgame party will be held in the Boulevard Members Club featuring food and drink specials.
Friday is the final home match of 2013 for the U.S. MNT. Tickets for the match are available online through Ticketmaster.com or at the Sporting Park Box Offices.
