Thoughts on the match…

I don't think the game was a good game for either team. I think coming out of halftime, we were sleeping at that moment. After the goal got called back, we were in the game at that point and we were good. The second goal that they get, it's a little unfortunate just because when the ball gets played back to Kendall (McIntosh), Khiry (Shelton) opens up to play. (Kendall) hits the long ball. He hits the first-time ball and (Khiry) keeps him onside. It's a hard one. That's a tough one. When there's such inconsistency in all of the foul calling and then you bring a goal back when our guy actually touches the ball on the foul. He has control of the ball and two guys are grabbing him, holding him, and he gets called for the foul. I'm amazed at that decision. But I'm probably more amazed that Daniel (Salloi) doesn't get a penalty kick in the 53rd minute. I'm amazed. I really am. I don't have any words for that piece of the game. I just don't. It’s sad.

Sporting Kansas City midfielder Erik Thommy

If the frustration was in giving up the goals or in the goal that was disallowed…

I think both. Today we deserved more. I think it's difficult to find the right words because the game was a little bit different today. Even in the second half we controlled the game and then we conceded two goals during a few minutes. We had more possession in more of the game. We scored to make it 2-2 at the end with a questionable call. It’s tough. But in the end it’s soccer and sometimes you have these kinds of games and you need to look forward.

If the result will fire the team up…

Before the game we wanted the three points because we knew that they were struggling. We deserved more, but now the focus is on the next game. We play on Wednesday and we have to regenerate as fast as possible. Next game we can do better.

On the disallowed goal…

To be honest, I didn’t see it. I have to take a look again. In the end, we can not do anything. The game is over and that’s it.

Referee Rosendo Mendoza (via MLS Pool Reporter)

What evidence did you see when reviewing Sporting KC’s stoppage time goal that was waived off that led you to believe it was a clear and obvious error?

The SKC attacker follows through and kicks the defender.

Why was it not deemed a penalty kick when Daniel Salloi was being held by an LAFC defender around the 53rd minute?

The level of contact was deemed not sufficient to award a penalty.

With 21 seconds passing from foul to goal, and the ball recycling play outside of the 18-yard box, was it still deemed to have occurred within the attacking phase of play?

Yes.
