Sporting Kansas City has announced a new partnership with Taco Republic, continuing a major concessions refresh at Children’s Mercy Park ahead of the 2020 season.

Taco Republic, a Kansas City-based taqueria acclaimed for its “street-style” tacos, will operate out of its signature food truck on the south concourse of Children’s Mercy Park. Taco Republic will serve a plethora of popular items at every Sporting home match, including select tacos, chips, salsa, guacamole and margaritas.

"Guests know Taco Republic for flavor-packed tacos, quality margaritas and a fun, laid back atmosphere,” Taco Republic owner Whitney VinZant said. “We also host many parties throughout the year from the Taco Republic truck, which is a unique and recommended experience. In our effort with Sporting to elevate the food and beverage experience at Children's Mercy Park, we thought the addition of the Taco Republic menu was great but not enough. We wanted to replicate the authentic experience, so we have decided to drive the Taco Republic truck onto the stadium concourse and set up shop."

Taco Republic becomes the newest locally based food and beverage partner to join Sporting for the 2020 season. BRGR Kitchen + Bar, also owned by VinZant, was announced as a new addition last week and will occupy the concession stand at section 129 of Children’s Mercy Park. In December, Sporting launched a partnership with Kansas City distillery J. Rieger & Co., whose products will be served during matches and at private events in the suite levels, Shield Club and additional concession locations at the stadium.

Sporting will continue to announce more information about new partners, concession upgrades, stadium technology improvements and premium space renovations in the coming weeks.

Celebrating its 25th year as a charter member of Major League Soccer, Sporting will kick off the 2020 MLS regular season on Feb. 29 at Vancouver Whitecaps FC before hosting rivals Houston Dynamo in the club’s home opener on March 7.

The best way to guarantee tickets for 2020 home matches is to join the Sporting Kansas City family and become a Season Ticket Member. Several multi-game ticket packages for the 2020 campaign are also on sale, including the limited-time Home Opener Pack that bundles the game on March 7 with two flex matches. Single-game tickets for the first half of Sporting’s home schedule will go on sale to the general public in the near future.
