Sporting Kansas City announced today the composition of the club’s roster for the 2026 MLS season, which will begin Saturday with a trip to take on the San Jose Earthquakes at 9:30 p.m. CT on Apple TV.
The information below discloses the designations for Sporting KC’s senior and supplemental roster, international roster spots and Designated Players as of Feb. 20.
Entering the 2026 MLS campaign, Sporting has 22 rostered players and eight open roster slots. The club has filled 15 of 20 spots on its Senior Roster and seven of 10 spots on its Supplemental Roster. Senior and Supplemental Roster designations may be changed at any time throughout the season if the player is eligible to be placed on either roster.
Sporting currently has four players occupying international roster slots: Kwaku Agyabeng, Zorhan Bassong, Lasse Berg Johnsen and Shapi Suleymanov. Designated Player duo Manu Garcia and Dejan Joveljic have received their green cards and no longer occupy international slots. The club has four open international slots available.
In addition, Sporting has selected the U22 Initiative Player Model entering 2026. This roster construction model allows the club to assemble a roster that includes up to two Designated Players and up to four U22 Initiative Players while also receiving up to an additional $2 million of General Allocation Money (GAM). MLS clubs will conditionally have the opportunity to update their roster construction model at midseason, between July 1 and the close of the Secondary Transfer Window on Sept. 2.
