Sporting Kansas City (14-7-6, 48 points) vaulted to second place in Major League Soccer's Western Conference following a 1-0 victory over Orlando City SC on Saturday at Children's Mercy Park. Manager Peter Vermes' men will continue their pursuit of an eighth straight playoff berth this weekend when the side visits the San Jose Earthquakes (4-15-8, 20 points) at Avaya Stadium. Saturday's clash will kick off at 9:30 p.m. CT, with three hours of live coverage beginning at 9 p.m. CT on FOX Sports Kansas City, FOX Sports Midwest Plus and FOX Sports GO.

All supporters are invited to attend the official watch party for Saturday's match at No Other Pub in the Kansas City Power & Light District (1370 Grand Blvd.). Beginning at 9 p.m. CT, No Other Pub will offer an all-you-can-eat buffet with bottomless soda and domestic draft beers, plus $6 Till Vodka cocktails and a variety of giveaways on Sporting KC and Till Vodka-branded items signed by Sporting KC players.

The 2018 Sporting Invitational golf outing will take place Monday at the Country Club at Loch Lloyd in Belton, Missouri (16750 Country Club Dr.). The annual event, slated to begin at 8:30 a.m. CT, will include participation from all Sporting KC players and coaches. Funds raised through the Sporting Invitational will go to The Victory Project, the philanthropic arm of Sporting KC that unites players, staff and fans to help children battling cancer and other serious illnesses.

Four Sporting KC players will represent their countries this week in international competition around the globe. Forward Johnny Russell and Scotland will begin their 2018-19 UEFA Nations League campaign against Albania on Monday, kicking off at 1:45 p.m. CT at Hampden Park in Glasgow with a live stream on ESPN+.

On Tuesday, forward Daniel Salloi and Hungary will continue their UEFA Nations League journey by hosting Greece at 1:45 p.m. CT at Groupama Arena in Budapest, streaming live on ESPN+. Forward Diego Rubio and Chile will also take the field that day, visiting South Korea in a friendly set for 6 a.m. CT at Suwon World Cup Stadium in Suwon.

Finally, defender Jaylin Lindsey and the United States U-20 Men's National Team will conclude the 2018 U.S. Soccer U-20 Men's Invitational at 3:30 p.m. CT Tuesday when they battle the Venezuela U-20s at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida. Russell, Salloi, Rubio and Lindsey will then return to Sporting KC ahead of Saturday's clash with the Earthquakes.

At 11 a.m. CT Monday, voting will close for the USL Goal of the Month and USL Save of the Month competitions. Wan Kuzain Wan Kamal, a Sporting KC homegrown midfielder on loan with the Rangers, is up for the USL Goal of the Month after making No. 2 on the SportsCenter Top 10 Plays for his sensational free kick in a 2-1 win over Tulsa Roughnecks FC on Aug. 29. Eric Dick, Sporting KC's rookie goalkeeper on loan with the Rangers, is among the USL Save of the Week candidates for his excellent stop to deny Antoine Hoppenot in a 3-3 draw with Reno 1868 FC on Aug. 19.

The two-time defending USL Western Conference champion Rangers will continue their 2018 season Saturday at Children's Mercy Park when they host archrivals Saint Louis FC. Kickoff is set for 4 p.m. CT and tickets are available via SeatGeek.com or at the stadium's east box office on matchday. The game will stream live on ESPN+.

The 2018 MLS Roster Freeze date is set for this Friday, Sept. 14, requiring all teams to submit a final 30-man roster for the remainder of the 2018 campaign. Per MLS rules, no changes can be made to a club's roster during the period beginning Sept. 15 through the day after 2018 MLS Cup, which is scheduled for Dec. 8.

Three Sporting KC Academy teams will travel to Houston this weekend for a pair of tripleheaders as the 2018-19 U.S. Soccer Development Academy season rolls onward. Sporting KC will face Texans SC on Saturday with the U-15s kicking off at 10 a.m. CT, followed by the U-17s at noon and the U-19s at 2 p.m. The following day will consist of three games against Houston Dynamo Youth, with the U-15s in action at 9 a.m. CT, the U-17s at 11 a.m. and the U-19s at 1:30 p.m. Follow @SKCAcademy on Twitter for live updates this weekend and throughout the year.
