Career Summary

Sporting Kansas City signed defender Amer Didic to an MLS contract for the 2017 season on May 31. Didic made 32 appearances for the Rangers during his first professional season in 2016, receiving USL All-League First Team honors as a Defender of the Year finalist after appearing on USL’s Team of the Week a league-high six times. In addition to leading SPR to a Western Conference championship and an appearance in the USL Cup Final, the 6-foot-4 defender played all 90 minutes in three CONCACAF Champions League matches for Sporting Kansas City.

Born in Bosnia and Herzegovina and raised in Edmonton, Canada, Didic spent a four-year college career at Baker University in nearby Baldwin City, Kansas, where he was a two-time NAIA All-American and landed NSCAA All-American and Heart of America Athletic Conference Player of the Year honors as a senior in 2015.

2018: MLS regular season: Did not feature. Open Cup: Started and played 90 minutes in a 2-0 fourth-round win over Real Salt Lake on June 6, making his first Sporting KC appearance since 2016. MLS Cup Playoffs: Did not feature. Swope Park Rangers: Started 27 USL matches on loan.

2016: MLS regular season: Did not feature. Open Cup: Did not feature. CONCACAF Champions League: Made his Sporting KC debut on Aug. 16, starting and playing 90 minutes in a 2-2 draw at Central FC in Trinidad and Tobago. Started and played 90 minutes in a 3-0 loss at Vancouver Whitecaps FC on Aug. 23. Started and played 90 minutes in a 2-1 loss to Vancouver on Sept. 13.

College: Didic attended Baker University and made 84 appearances for the Wildcats, scoring 28 goals and adding six assists from central defense. He had 11 goals in his junior year and 10 goals in his senior season, both of which led the team. Didic was a two-time NAIA All-American, while he was also named a NSCAA All-American as a senior and also earned Heart of America Athletic Conference Most Valuable Player and Defensive Player of the Year honors in his final year with Baker.

International: Didic was called up to the Canadian Interuniversity Sport roster for the 2015 Summer Universiade in Gwangju, South Korea. Didic made three appearances in the tournament, all starts – coming against Italy, Russia and Iran. Didic kicked off 2017 with his debut for the Canada U-23 Men’s National Team in March. He started and played the full 90 minutes in consecutive shutout wins over Uzbekistan and Qatar as Canada was crowned champion of the U-23 tournament in Doha, Qatar. Was called to Canada's senior team for the first time in early September, where he was an unused substitute in a 2-1 friendly win over Jamaica.
