Sporting KC U-16s go undefeated over weekend

Sporting KC U-18s vs. FC Dallas

The Sporting KC Academy continued their season last weekend with a trip to Colorado to take on Real Colorado and the Colorado Rush. The Sporting KC U-16s went 2-0-0 over the weekend, outscoring their opponents 5-2, while the U-18s lost both matches.


In Saturday's match against Real Colorado, Dakota Karns put the Sporting KC U-16s ahead in the 15th minute before the home side responded with two goals before halftime. Logan Lucas leveled the match in the 47th minute with his second goal in as many matches and Dominick Parry scored the game-winner in the 50th minute.


The Sporting KC U-16s carried the momentum from Saturday's win into Sunday and came away with a 2-0 victory over the Colorado Rush. Karns tallied his second goal of the weekend minutes after halftime and Absalom Solorio sealed the match in the 61st minute. Karns and Solorio lead the team with four goals apiece.


The team is now tied for third overall in total points in the Central Conference, but is tied for seventh overall in points per game.


The Sporting KC U-18s lost to Real Colorado 1-0 on Saturday and Colorado Rush 3-0 on Sunday. The team is currently tied for second in points in the division, but is in third place overall in points per game.


Both teams will continue their long road trip when they head to Houston this weekend for matches against Texas Rush (Saturday) and Texans SC (Sunday).
