USA to play Portugal in second group stage match

The United States Men's National Team will play Portugal Sunday afternoon in their second group stage match of the 2014 FIFA World Cup. Following Saturday's 2-2 draw between Germany and Ghana, the USMNT can clinch a spot in the knockout round of the tournament with a win over Portugal. Any other result and the top two teams in the group stage will not be determined until Thursday.

Sunday's match will be broadcast live on ESPN and Univision at 5 p.m CT with coverage beginning at 4:30 p.m. CT. Sporting Radio 810 WHB's Nate Bukaty will also host a pregame show from 4-4:30 featuring World Cup analysis from Sporting KC's Chance Myers.

Sporting Kansas City fans are invited to the official World Cup watch parties at the Kansas City Power & Light District in downtown Kansas City. More than 10,000 fans were on hand to watch the USMNT defeat Ghana 2-1 last Monday. Fans are encouraged to arrive early on Sunday.

Sporting KC's Matt Besler and Graham Zusi both featured in the USMNT's win over Ghana. Besler started and played 45 minutes before coming off at halftime with a hamstring injury. Reports out of Brazil suggest, however, that Besler is fit and available for selection on Sunday.

Zusi replaced Alejandro Bedoya in the 77th minute of Monday's match and made an immediate impact. The Sporting KC All-Star served the corner kick that John Anthony Brooks heade home in the 86th minute for the game winner.

If Besler and Zusi both start on Sunday, it would make the first time since 2002 that two MLS teammates started a World Cup match together for the USMNT. The last pair of teammates to accomplish that feat were San Jose's Jeff Agoos and Landon Donovan.
