Mustivar plays 71 minutes as Haiti falls to Jamaica in World Cup quaifying

Sporting Kansas City midfielder Soni Mustivar earned his eighth cap for Haitiā€™s Menā€™s National Team on Tuesday in a 1-0 loss to Jamaica in the fourth round of CONCACAFā€™s World Cup qualifying tournament. Haiti is the only winless team in Group B and has a hill to climb to advance to the final round of World Cup qualifying.


Mustivar started and played 71 minutes in Tuesdayā€™s loss, exiting the match for forward Kervens Belfort with Haiti down a goal. This was Mustivarā€™s second consecutive appearance for the national team after taking a year-long hiatus during the 2015 MLS season.


After a scoreless first half, Jamaica broke through in the 62nd minute through Clayton Donaldson. The Birmingham City striker found himself unmarked on a corner kick and headed directed his header past goalkeeper Johnny Placide for the game-winning goal.


Following Tuesdayā€™s matches, Haiti currently sits in fourth place in Group B following two matchdays. Theyā€™ll result World Cup qualifying with a pair of matches against Panama on March 25 (home) and March 29 (away). Costa Rica currently leads the group with six points, while Panama and Jamaica are tied for second place with three points each.
