Goal of the Year voting: Krisztian Nemeth stunner among the final eight

Krisztian Nemeth's stunning solo run and finish against the Portland Timbers is one of eight strikes up for AT&T MLS Goal of the Year as fan voting moves into the quarterfinal round.

Everyone remembers the play by now.

Nemeth received a pass from Graham Zusi at midfield and accelerated into the attacking third. Diego Chara and Nat Borchers toppled to the turf in a failed attempt to dispossess the rampant Hungarian, who continued his burst into the penalty box. A precise finish was required from an acute angle, and Nemeth provided just that as Sporting KC emerged with a 1-0 win that ultimately proved pivotal in securing their fifth straight playoff berth.

Voting in the quarterfinal round is open through this Monday, Nov. 23. Nemeth enjoyed an excellent first season with Sporting Kansas City in 2015, recording 16 goals and seven assists across all competitions. His 23 combined goals and assists were the most by a Kansas City newcomer since the inaugural 1996 season.
On the international front, Nemeth featured eight times for Hungary in 2015 and helped the Magyars qualify for Euro 2016, the nation's first berth in the European Championship since 1972. He scored twice against Greece on Oct. 11 and played both matches in Hungary's two-legged Euro 2016 playoff victory over Norway last week.
