HIGHLIGHTS: Dane Kelly becomes top scorer in USL history

Dane Kelly with Charleston Battery (USL)

Since the USL played it's inaugural season in 2011, Dane Kelly has been generating goals for the Charleston Battery.
He scored the game-tying goal and earned the game-winning penalty against Toronto FC in his preseason debut. Then in the team's season opener, he forced the decisive own goal (video) for a 1-0 win.

From that point on, the Jamaican forward never looked back en route to becoming the top scorer in league history. Kelly set the record in this year's regular season finale with the 42nd goal of his career, a game-winner to clinch Charleston's fifth straight postseason berth.

KELLY'S USL CAREER
2015: 11 goals, 2 assists in 26 games
2014: 10 goals in 19 games
2013: 11 goals, 2 assists in 23 games
2012: 5 goals, 2 assists in 17 games
2011: 5 goals, 1 assist in 22 games

The 24-year-old -- chosen to the USL's All-League teams each of the past two seasons -- was one of four new signings announced by the Swope Park Rangers on Wednesday ahead of the club's first season in 2016.

“This is a step forward for me in terms of what I’ve done in the USL,” Kelly said. “I’m excited to come to KC and I want to pursue an opportunity to make it to the first team with Sporting Kansas City.”
