Sporting Kansas City will take on the Houston Dynamo in the Sporting KC's fourth and final match of the 2016 FC Tucson Desert Diamond Cup. The teams will go head-to-head on Saturday, Feb. 27 at 5:30 p.m. CT at Kino North Stadium. Sporting KC played its first two Desert Diamond Cup to a draw with opponents Columbus Crew SC and the New England Revolution, and won its third game 4-1 against the Colorado Rapids. Penalty kicks made up three of Kansas City's four goals in the Wednesday night match, with midfielder Paulo Nagamura sinking two nearly identical shots into the lower left corner of the net in the first half. Dom Dwyer converted a penalty of his own in the 68th minute, followed by a goal by Seth Sinovic.
Houston opened its Desert Diamond Cup run with a scoreless draw against the Colorado Rapids, and fell 2-1 to the New England Revolution in its most recent preseason match.
The Saturday evening game concludes Sporting KC's time in Tucson, Arizona for preseason training, presented by Children's Mercy. The team opens its season on March 6 on the road against the Seattle Sounders FC, and will play at home the following week against the Vancouver Whitecaps FC.
