The Swope Park Rangers are back in action on Wednesday, July 20 with a road matchup against Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC at Switchbacks Stadium. Kickoff is set for 8 p.m. CT and the game will be available via live stream on SportingKC.com.
The Rangers enter the game with a 6-8-3 (21 pts.) record, placing them in 11th place in the Western Conference – three places and two points outside the playoff spots. In their most recent game, SPR fell 2-0 to OKC Energy FC at Swope Soccer Village on Tuesday, July 12. Despite hitting the post and forcing opposition goalkeeper Cody Laurendi into seven saves, the Rangers conceded two late goals to FC Dallas loanees Coy Craft and Timo Pitter, snapping SPR’s three-game unbeaten streak.
The Switchbacks currently sit in third place in the Western Conference having posted a 9-5-3 (30 pts.) record. Colorado Springs started the season by going 7-2-1 but have slowed down recently, posting a 2-3-2 record in their last seven games. The Switchbacks did claim all three points in their last outing, topping Sacramento Republic FC 1-0 at Switchbacks Stadium behind an 84th-minute goal by defender JJ Greer.
Wednesday’s game is the only meeting between the two sides this season. The Rangers will return home this weekend to host Orange County Blues FC on Saturday night at Swope Soccer Village, with kickoff set for 7:30 p.m. CT.
