Longtime Sporting KC defender Chance Myers thanks SKC Nation

Chance Myers - Sporting KC

Longtime Sporting Kansas City defender Chance Myers penned a thank-you letter to the organization and its fans on Tuesday, one day after signing with the Portland Timbers as a free agent.

Myers’ heartfelt Instagram post expressed gratitude toward coaches, teammates, owners and fans as he reflected on a nine-year stint with Sporting KC that began in 2008. He leaves Kansas City as one of the most accomplished defenders in club history, winning the 2013 MLS Cup as well as 2012 and 2015 U.S. Open Cup titles.

Selected as the No. 1 overall pick in the 2008 MLS SuperDraft, Myers recorded four goals and 19 assists in 175 appearances across all competitions. His 19 assists rank first all-time among Kansas City defenders, while his 175 games played rank 12th in team history. Myers is one of just four players to play nine seasons at Sporting KC, alongside Davy Arnaud, Kerry Zavagnin and Preki.
