SPR striker Nansel Selbol named to USL Team of the Week after two-goal performance vs. San Antonio FC

Nansel Selbol vs. San Antonio FC - Sept. 17, 2017

Swope Park Rangers forward Nansel Selbol has been named to the USL Team of the Week for Week 26 of the 2017 USL season. Selbol had two goals, including the game-winner, as SPR routed San Antonio FC and their league-best defense 5-2 on Sunday night.

In addition, Selbol came second in USL Player of the Week voting, receiving 24 percent of the poll conducted by a national panel of independent media. FC Cincinnati's Kenney Walker beat out Selbol for the honor after receiving 53 percent of the vote.

The 20-year-old Sporting KC Academy product opened the scoring early on from the penalty spot before Omar Gordon equalized for San Antonio. Fellow Academy product Felipe Hernandez put SPR back ahead moments before halftime and Selbol added his second and his side's third early in the second period, flashing a finish high into the net off Tyler Pasher's cutback.

Forward Kharlton Belmar, who signed an MLS contract with Sporting KC last Friday, was named to the bench of the Team of the Week after netting his side's fourth goal of the game with a well taken finish while through on goal just minutes after Selbol had completed his brace.

The fourth-place Rangers are back in action this weekend when the side travels to take on Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC on Saturday, Sept. 23. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. CT and the game will be live streamed on YouTube.com/USL.
