Sporting KC unveils full 2018 preseason schedule

Sporting Kansas City has unveiled the club’s full match schedule for the 2018 preseason, presented by Children’s Mercy. Manager Peter Vermes' men will play seven friendlies prior to their regular season opener against New York City FC on March 4 at Children's Mercy Park.

For the fourth consecutive year, Sporting KC will spend both legs of preseason in the state of Arizona, training in Scottsdale from Jan. 21 through Feb. 3 and then in Tucson from Feb. 9-25.

The first phase will include tune-ups against Phoenix Rising FC trialists on Jan. 27, NPSL club Sporting Arizona on Jan. 31, and fellow MLS outfit Colorado Rapids on Feb. 3. Phoenix Rising Soccer Complex will host all three games.

Following a brief return to Kansas City, Sporting KC will venture to Tucson to compete in the Mobile Mini Sun Cup. The preseason tournament will feature matches against the New York Red Bulls on Feb. 14, Phoenix Rising FC on Feb. 17, New England Revolution on Feb. 21 and a team to be determined on Feb. 24. Three of the four matches will take place at Kino Sports Complex in Tucson, while the Feb. 17 contest will be held at Phoenix Rising Soccer Complex.

Other MLS clubs participating in the Mobile Mini Sun Cup include the Colorado Rapids, FC Dallas, Houston Dynamo, LA Galaxy, New England Revolution, Portland Timbers, New York Red Bulls, Real Salt Lake, San Jose Earthquakes and Seattle Sounders FC.
