Both Sporting Kansas City and New York City FC lists forwards on their respective injury reports heading into tonight’s curtain raiser at Children’s Mercy Park.
Sporting KC striker Khiry Shelton, who joined the club from NYC in a trade this offseason, is listed as questionable with a leg bruise sustained in the final preseason game in Tucson, Arizona last Saturday. Also questionable for Sporting KC is Brad Evans, who continues to work his way back to full fitness following a lower back injury.
For New York City, offensive offseason addition Jo Inge Berget will miss the season opener with a quad injury.
Tonight’s match will kick off at 6:30 p.m. CT and will air nationally on FOX Sports 1, while Sports Radio 810 WHB, SiriusXM FC Ch. 157 (English) and ESPN Deportes 1480 AM (Spanish) will carry the game on the radio.
