Macissé Diop to make his gaming debut for Sporting today at eMLS League Series One

2019 eMLS Series One Los Angeles

Macissé Diop will make his debut as Sporting Kansas City’s eMLS gamer today at eMLS League Series One presented by PlayStation, taking place at the Esports Arena in Santa Ana, California.

The 21-year-old Diop was unveiled as Sporting’s eMLS player last month and will now put his FIFA prowess to the test in a tournament featuring 22 professional gamers, each representing an MLS club.

The eMLS League Series One begins this afternoon with regular season play behind closed doors, whittling the 22 competitors down to eight quarterfinalists—four players from the Eastern Conference and four players from the Western Conference. That will set the stage for the evening knockout rounds, which will stream live starting at 8 p.m. CT on MLSsoccer.com as well as the MLS appTwitch, and Twitter.

Excelling at League Series One will put Diop in prime position to qualify for eMLS Cup. He will also be playing for the grand prize of $5,000 and a trophy.

The eMLS League Series events, which will feature the full roster of eMLS players, will help determine the seeding for eMLS Cup presented by PlayStation in March. In turn, eMLS Cup participants will earn points for the EA SPORTS Global Series Playoffs, which give gamers a chance to qualify for the 2019 FIFA eWorld Cup.

In addition to following Diop on Twitter at @cisseSZN, Sporting fans can follow the new @eSportingKC Twitter account for the latest eMLS news and updates over the course of 2019.
