Sporting Sounds: Matt Besler, Johnny Russell and Daniel Salloi make radio rounds ahead of #SKCvMTY

Sporting Kansas City knows what they are up against.

And they're going to give it everything they've got.

Such was the message delivered by captain Matt Besler and forwards Johnny Russell and Daniel Salloi, who made separate radio appearances today to preview Thursday's second leg of the Concacaf Champions League Semifinals between Sporting Kansas City and Monterrey. Besler and Russell joined Sports Radio 810 WHB, while Salloi was a guest on Hot 103 Jamz!

Sporting faces a 5-0 aggregate deficit entering the second leg, which kicks off at 8 p.m. CT with tickets still available at The monumental matchup will stream live in English on and the Yahoo Sports app while airing live in Spanish on Univision Deportes. Listeners can also catch the action live locally on Sports Radio 810 WHB (English) and ESPN Deportes KC 1480 AM (Spanish), with The Final Whistle postgame show immediately following on 810 WHB.

Besler, Russell and Salloi will aim to help Sporting become the first team in the 57-year history of the Concacaf Champions’ Cup and Concacaf Champions League to reverse a first-leg deficit of four or more goals. To complete the comeback, Manager Peter Vermes' men will have to carry their rampant home form into Thursday night. The club is a perfect 4-0-0 at Children’s Mercy Park in all competitions, outscoring opponents 15-1.
