Two MLS originals who finished atop their respective conferences in 2018 will square off Sunday as Sporting Kansas City (2-1-2, 8 points) welcomes the New York Red Bulls to Children's Mercy Park for a nationally televised clash on FS1 and FOX Deportes.


Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. CT with radio broadcasts airing live on Sports Radio 810 WHB, SiriusXM FC (English) and ESPN Deportes KC 1480 AM (Spanish). Tickets for the marquee matchup are on sale at SeatGeek.com as the hosts present their Sporting Sustainability theme night, headlined by the new Parley jersey now available at MLSstore.com.


Sporting will be eager to bounce back from Thursday's Champions League defeat at the hands of Monterrey, while the Red Bulls are looking to snap a three-game losing skid after piecing together a historic 2018 regular season. We take a statistical look at the intriguing matchup in our newest edition of By The Numbers.


Head-to-Head


  • Sporting have won three of the last four meetings against the Red Bulls in all competitions since the start of 2016.
  • Sunday marks the first time New York has visited Children's Mercy Park since falling to Sporting 2-1 in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Final on Sept. 20, 2017.
