Sporting striker Alan Pulido nets Liga MX Best XI honors

Newly acquired Sporting Kansas City striker Alan Pulido has earned Liga MX Best XI honors for the 2019 Apertura season.

Pulido, who joined Sporting on a club-record transfer fee in December, finished atop the Liga MX scoring charts with 12 goals for Chivas de Guadalajara during the fall Apertura campaign.

The 28-year-old Pulido lands Liga MX Best XI honors for the second time in his career, having previously done so at the conclusion of the 2017 spring season when he led Chivas to the Clausura title. He is one of three forwards on the 2019 Apertura Best XI alongside Necaxa striker Mauro Quiroga and Monterrey front man Rogelio Funes Mori, whose Monterrey side ousted Sporting last spring en route to the Concacaf Champions League title.

One of the most decorated signings in Sporting history, Pulido has bagged over 100 combined goals for club and country during a decorated career highlighted by five domestic championships, the 2018 Concacaf Champions League title and 13 caps for the Mexico Men’s National Team.

Set to join Sporting for the start of preseason later this month in Arizona, Pulido began his professional career with Tigres UANL in 2009. Following a successful stint with Tigres, he spent two years in Greece with Levadiakos and Olympiacos from 2014-2016 before returning to Mexico and starring for Chivas.

Internationally, Pulido has represented Mexico at the U-20, U-23 and senior levels and was on the El Tri squad for the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.

Pulido and Sporting will kick off the 2020 MLS regular season on Feb. 29 at Vancouver Whitecaps FC before hosting the Houston Dynamo on March 7 in the club's highly anticipated home opener at Children's Mercy Park.

The best way to guarantee tickets for 2020 home matches at Children’s Mercy Park is to join the Sporting Kansas City family and become a Season Ticket Member. Several multi-game ticket packages for the 2020 season are also on sale now at SportingKC.com, including the limited-time Holiday Pack that bundles the home opener versus Houston Dynamo on March 7 with two flex matches. Single-game tickets for the first half of Sporting’s home schedule will go on sale to the general public in early 2020.
